Oliver L. Haimson is a PhD student in Informatics at the University of California, Irvine’s Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences. He works with Dr. Gillian Hayes in the Social and Technological Action Research (STAR) Group. Oliver’s research interests include social computing and human-computer interaction. Oliver received his B.S. in Economics at Carnegie Mellon University.
Nathan Major is a Masters Student in the Department of Informatics at the University of California Irvine. He graduated with a BS in Psychology from Brigham Young University, and used that to transfer his interest into Human Computer Interaction. He works with Bonnie Nardi researching changes in online media, specifically YouTube, and the web communities and content creators that evolve around that. Nathan also has provided vision therapy for hundreds of autistic children over the past half decade, as well as having experience working with autistic children in special education volunteer work.
Kate Ringland is a PhD student in Informatics at the University of California, Irvine. Her areas of research include Human-Computer Interaction, Assistive Technology, and Technology for Individuals with Autism. Her current projects include SensoryPaint and Minecraft for Children with Autism, with a particular interest in how children with autism can use technology to support their collaborative play.
Khalidah Tokhi is a third year at UC Irvine majoring in Psychology, Biology and minoring in Civic and Community Engagement. She is currently a research assistant in Dr. Margaret Schneider’s research project that seeks to promote physical activity in adolescents. She is also involved in organizations on campus such as Helping Hearts for the Homeless where she serves as Publicity Officer and founder of a new club Working Wardrobes. She hopes to use the skills she has to help others in a career in mental health.
Mengyao Zhao is a PhD student in Informatics at the University of California, Irvine. She works with Dr. André van der Hoek doing research around design values and rationale in HCI and software design. She is an interaction and UX designer, and a Chinese zither player. She is a passionate person who believes design and art have the power to contribute to a better world.
